Westminster Defeats Hopkins

The Westminster Softball Team (10-4) came back twice to defeat a tough Hopkins team (8-4). The game was scoreless through three innings and Hopkins scored one run in the forth. Westminster came back to score two runs in the fifth off of hits by Avi Greene ’09 and Michele Ribaudo ’08. Hopkins put two more runs across in the sixth off of a couple of Westminster errors. The Martlets didn’t give up and came back to score three in the seventh. Greene started off the inning getting on base with a walk. Ribaudo had another single. Mandy Hyne ’07 brought Greene home and the Kate Philip ’06 hit a rocket into left to score Ribaudo and Hyne. The game ended with a strong defense stand as Westminster sat down the first three batters. Hyne pitched well with five strikeouts and only two walks.
