Westminster Defeats Pomfret

Mandy Hyne ’07 pitched seven strong innings and Westminster made a number of sparkling plays in the field as the Martlets defeated Pomfret by a score of 8-1. Hyne struck out five and walked just two in leading the team to an important victory on the road. Nicole Palazzo ‘08, Marianne Specker ‘08, Avignon Greene ‘09, Bethany Dymarczyk ‘08, and Kate Philip ’09 each played very well defensively as Westminster won for the sixth time in the last seven games. At the plate, Dymarczyk led the team with two base hits and two RBIs. Samantha Hinckley ’06 and Palazzo also had timely base hits which helped spark rallies for Westminster. Hyne and Greene had two stolen bases apiece and each scored two runs for the Black and Gold. Overall, it was a well-played, impressive team effort.
