Westminster Loses to Suffield

The Westminster Varsity Softball Team (1-2) faced a solid Suffield squad and were unable to come up with much offense while also struggling on the mound. The Martlets posed a threat only in the first inning when Nicole Palazzo '08 walked and made a nice steal at second. She was left stranded, and the team was only able to produced two hits for the game. Suffield was able to compile seven runs on only three hits. There was some strong play defensively, however, as Palazzo and Marianne Specker '08 performed well at third and short. Corinne Werner '09 had the grab of the day making a tremendous effort to catch a fly ball in left field. The girls now have a week off before they face Taft at home when they hope to get the bats going and earn another victory.
