Martlets Fall To Sacred Heart


The Martlets hit the road on a sunny spring day to face off against Sacred Heart. With goals from Chase Hager ‘26 and Chase Carter ‘26 (assisted by Lylah Leigner ‘29), Westy took an early lead at the end of the first quarter. Sacred Heart would respond in the second, scoring four straight goals to give them a 5-2 lead. Thanks to a late goal from Bella Zapata ‘27, the Martlets would trail by 2 heading into halftime. During the third quarter, Sacred Heart extended their lead to 8-3. Liesel Kocourek ‘27 was incredible in goal, keeping Westminster in the game with a total of 14 saves. In the final quarter, Caroline Callen ‘26 added the final Westy goal of the day with an assist from Chloe Corneau ‘29. Sacred Heart would score one more, resulting in a 9-4 loss. The Martlets look to rebound on Saturday with a home game against Pomfret.
