Jack Pickett ‘26 and Noah Maltby ‘28 were first off the court with an efficient win 8-0 at #3 doubles. Alex Brown ‘27 and Will Henry ‘26 also won 8-0 at #2 doubles, with Alex’s baseline play and consistency setting up Will at the net. Crosby Cutler ‘27 and Xavier Kahn ‘27, and Archie Downing ‘29 and Daniel Frid ‘27 got wins at exhibition doubles matches with scores of 8-5 and 6-4 respectively. Liam Hibbard ‘27 followed at #1 singles. After a quick first set, he fought from a break down in the second against a tough left handed player before dominating that set breaker 7-2 for a 4-1;5-4(2) win. Finn Hocking ‘26 followed with a 4-0;4-0 win at #3, he was far too consistent for his hard hitting opponent and also had some excellent drop shots. Jack Pickett ‘26 fought hard in his match against a very consistent opponent at #6. After dropping the first 2-4, he rebounded to take the second quickly 4-1. The breaker was a tight affair, with the Hall player just edging Pickett out for a 10-8 win. Noah Maltby ‘28 got the Martlets back on track with a 4-2;4-2 win at #5 singles. Alex Brown ‘27 finished off the afternoon with a third set breaker in at #2. After going up 3-0, he held on to take the first set 4-2. His opponent made some strong adjustments which forced Brown to drop the second set 0-4. After a slight adjustment to up the aggressiveness, he took a back and forth third set breaker 10-7. The Martlets performed well in their first dual match as a team, and look to keep up the momentum as we travel to Choate.
