Martlets Battle but Fall to Rivers

Westminster 8 vs Rivers 13
The Martlets traveled to Weston, MA to face The Rivers School in their 2026 season opener, following a 4-0 preseason that included strong wins over Middlesex and Longmeadow. Westminster came out strong, taking a 3-1 lead after the first quarter. Rivers responded in the second, battling back to tie the game at 4-4 heading into halftime. Rivers carried that momentum into the third quarter, quickly building an 8-4 lead. The Martlets answered with two goals to cut the deficit to 8-6, but costly turnovers allowed Rivers to extend the lead to 9-6 at the end of the third. Westminster continued to compete in the fourth, but Rivers ultimately pulled away to secure a 13-8 win.
