Martlets Finish 7th at Founders


The Boys’ and Girls’ swim team had a terrific first championship meet at Hotchkiss this Saturday! Over 90% of season bests were achieved and many personal best times. The Girls’ kicked off the meet strong with a top 10 finish in the 200 Medley relay (team composed of: Susan Wang ‘29, Sunshine Li ‘26, Jennifer Weber ‘26, and Jasmine Fu ‘27.) The 50 Freestyle brought fast swims by lots of girls. Jasmine Fu set a personal best time of 27.61 along with Maya Jones ‘28 who broke 30 for the first time this season. Taylor O’Connell also had a terrific swim, accomplishing a near two second personal best in a time of 34.79. Jasmine Fu continued her streak of personal best times in the 100 Freestyle with a 1:00.99. Caroline Hebbeler ‘27 shone in the 500 Freestyle accomplishing a near fifteen second drop with a time of 7:13.80. And the Girls’ 200 Freestyle relay also achieved a top 10 finish in a time of 1:55.35 (team composed of: Cameron Perillo ‘28, Susan Wang ‘29, Susan Wang ‘29, and Jasmine Fu ‘27). Catherine Hogan ‘28 rounded the meet off strong with a new personal best in the 100 Breastroke (1:30.99). Congrats to all girls! 

The Boys’ had an equally tremendous meet. The team of John Dwyer ‘26, Will Larock ‘26, Ben Yu ‘28, and Jesse Yang ‘27 started the meet strong with a 6th place finish in the medley relay (1:47.27). Ben Yu had a strong top 15 finish in the 50 Freestyle in a time of 24.07 and Jesse Yang also accomplished a top 15 finish in the 200 Freestyle (1:59.00). In the 100 Freestyle, Will Larock went a season best for a time of 53.92, just behind Jesse Yang’s great swim of 52.11.

A special shout-out to John Dwyer for one of the highlights of the meet. In the 200 I.M. Dwyer gave an incredible last lap of freestyle to achieve a first-place finish in a new Founder’s record (by almost two seconds) in a time of 1:53.97. John Dwyer was not done in the pool yet however, and raced a phenomenal 100 Backstroke, triumphing again in the event for a first place finish and another Founders’ record. Congratulations, John! 

The Boys’ wrapped the meet up strong with a fantastic 200 Freestyle relay (team of: Dwyer, Larock, Yu, and Yang) for a 5th place finish and season best time of 1:34.51. Congratulations to all the boys! 

The swim team looks forward to our last championship meet of the season this coming Saturday in Stamford! We are ready for New Englands!
