Martlets Fall to Pelicans

The Martlets met the Pelicans on their home court for a Monday afternoon tip-off, and it was a tough battle from start to finish. The first quarter was fairly even, ending 0–6, highlighted by strong, scrappy defense from Esther Lee, Emma Llewellyn, Natalie House, Audrey Tan, and Kiera During. Emma Llewellyn put the first points on the board for the Martlets with two to get us going. The Pelicans dominated in the second quarter and didn’t let up, putting up 17 points while their defense forced bad passes on our end.  We struggled to get shots off as Loomis kept the pressure high on both ends of the court.
In the fourth, Esther Lee and Caitlyn Eaton added two points continuing to battle despite the scoreboard. It was a tough loss, but the Martlets showed grit and grace, playing hard and staying composed until the final buzzer.
