Martlets Defeated by Lions

The Martlets welcomed Kent to our home court and came out with aggressive defense right from the tip, though we were slow to get our shots to fall. Piper Lundin sunk an early basket in the second quarter, giving us a small momentum shift, but Kent’s shooting was dialed-in as they scored 10 points in the second quarter. Layla Huguley and Morgan McQueeney were dominant defensively, protecting the paint, closing out with aggression, and forcing key turnovers. In the third quarter, Audrey Tan, Kiera During, and Charlotte Lundin helped change the tone of the game with relentless defense and control on the boards. The Martlets locked in, pulling down rebounds and holding Kent to just three points in the quarter while putting up six of our own.
Offensively, Esther Lee led the way with three baskets, Charlotte Lundin added one from down low, and Mariel Johnson finished a tough shot under the basket from a sharp angle. While the final score wasn’t what we hoped for, the girls played as a team, battled until the final buzzer, and showed growth and improvement.
