Martlets Fall on the Road

The Martlets made the trip to the Bear Den at Berkshire on a foggy Wednesday afternoon, and for a stretch, the conditions seemed to follow them inside. Westminster opened a step slow, as Berkshire’s crisp passing and interior movement generated quality early looks and a quick advantage. Calvin Bixby ’28 provided a needed spark, knocking down an early three-pointer and finishing with nine points and four steals in an active all-around performance. Kareum Skovron-Rasheed ’29 did the necessary work on the glass, leading the Martlets with six rebounds and competing consistently in traffic. Westminster found some traction late, applying defensive pressure that trimmed the margin and forced Berkshire into tougher possessions. But over the course of the afternoon, the Bears’ 40–24 advantage on the boards proved decisive, limiting second chances for the Black and Gold while creating extra opportunities at the other end. The Martlets now return home, where they will welcome Kent to Pettee Gymnasium on Saturday.
