Martlets Shutout Griffins

The Martlets delivered a strong response on Saturday afternoon, earning a disciplined and well-earned 4–0 victory over the Griffins from Pomfret School. Facing a quality opponent, Westminster School put together a complete team performance in a game that was tight and competitive throughout despite the final scoreline.
Westminster opened the scoring in the first period when Owen Burke ’26 finished a well-worked play to give the Martlets a 1–0 edge after one. The second period proved decisive, as Westminster struck twice. Gus McGarvey ’26 doubled the lead with a short-handed goal — the Martlets’ second short-handed tally in as many games — highlighting an exceptional penalty kill that set the tone all afternoon. Later in the period, Timmy Donohue ’26 added another, with assists from Ryan Holmes ’28 and Gus McGarvey ’26, pushing the lead to 3–0.
The third period remained competitive, with both teams generating chances while continuing to play with structure and discipline. Westminster sealed the result late with an empty-net goal from Tyler Beaudoin ’28, closing out the 4–0 win.
In goal, Ryan Galaski ’26 was outstanding, turning aside every Pomfret opportunity to earn the shutout and anchor a composed defensive effort in front of him.
It was a complete bounce-back performance for the Martlets — defined by strong special teams, timely scoring, and excellent goaltending — against a well-coached and disciplined Pomfret side.
