Martlets Fall to Williston

The Westminster Girls team had a great meet this Wednesday against Williston. It was a tough fought battle with many of our swimmers competing well against the much larger Williston team. The Girls’ started strong with a great win in the 200 Medley Relay (team composed of Jasmine Fu ‘27, Sunshine Li ‘26, Jennifer Weber ‘26, Susan Wang’29). Jennifer Weber won the 100 Butterfly for the Girls’ in a time of 1:12.58, marking her return to the event since a collarbone injury. Well done Jenn! Jasmine Fu also had a terrific meet, swimming in the 500 Freestyle for the first time this season and winning the event. Great work! Weber also followed up with a second win in the 100 Backstroke in a time of 1:13.42. The Westminster 200 Freestyle team also secured a win (team composed of Cameron Perillo ‘28, Claire Hansell ‘28, Susan Wang ‘29, and Maya Tran ‘27.) A final highlight of the meet was Bea Vaughn ‘29 who made her debut for Westminster Diving, our first competitive diver in over a year. Vaughn scored a 7 on her first dive and finished all dives in terrific form. Well done Bea!

The Boys’ team also brought the energy for this meet. John Dwyer ‘26 (currently having an undefeated season) won both of his events - the 200 IM and the 100 Backstroke. Other event winners included Will Larock ‘26 in the 200 Freestyle. Jesse Yang ‘27 gave a terrific performance in the 50 Freestyle, claiming a second place finish for the Boys’ in a time of 23.99. The Boys’ also handed in some strong relay performances throughout the meet. Our team held up well against the much larger Williston and everyone should be proud of their efforts!
