Martlets Fall to Williston

The Martlets wrapped up play Wednesday afternoon at Jackson Rink, falling 3-0 to Williston in a hard-fought contest. Williston struck first in the opening period, converting on a power-play opportunity to take a 1-0 lead after one. From there, Westminster settled in and delivered one of its stronger defensive performances of the season, working hard to limit chances against a skilled Williston lineup. Williston added two goals in the second period to extend the lead to 3-0, but the Martlets never let the game get away from them. Westminster brought consistent energy throughout the afternoon and generated quality scoring chances of their own, though the Martlets were unable to capitalize offensively. Defensively, Westminster showed discipline, structure, and grit throughout the game. Goaltender Kate Epke ‘27 was a standout, coming up with multiple big saves to keep her team within reach and give the Martlets a chance until the final horn. Despite the loss, Westminster’s effort and intensity were positives to build on, as the Martlets proved they can compete with one of the stronger teams on the schedule. The Martlets will hit the road on Saturday to take on Tabor Academy in Marion, MA.

Our Grit & Grace player of the game is Junior Stella Spitz! Stella was acknowledged by her teammates for her hustle and hard work- two characteristics that she exhibits each and every game.
