Martlets Fall in Wallingford

For their first contest in a three-game week, the Martlets traveled to Choate and faced a talented Wild Boars team. After some early jitters, Westminster was able to handle the opponent’s full court pressure and found a few good scoring opportunities, but the shots did not fall. Meanwhile, Choate caught fire from the 3-point line and built up an early lead. To their credit, the Martlets refused to back down and continued to fight on both ends of the floor. Seniors, Parker Perillo ‘26 and Delia Lockwood ‘26, helped lead the charge with energy, hustle, and communication. Gianna Monaco ‘27 and Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 also made valuable contributions to the effort, diving on the floor for loose balls, wrestling rebounds, and creating second chance opportunities for Westminster’s offense. In the second half, Charlie Evanko ‘29 and Chloe Donovan ‘29 found the scoring column while Sophia McKenna ‘27 chipped in two free throws. The team was commended by both their own coaches and the opposing coaches for their effort and no-quit attitude. The Martlets will look to bring the same energy to their Friday night game at Kingswood Oxford.
