Martlets Defeat T-P on the Road

The Westminster Martlets picked up an impressive 5–2 road victory over TP in a big Founders League matchup, the first game back for both teams after the break.
As expected, there was a bit of rust on both sides early, and it was TP that struck first, opening the scoring in the first period to grab a 1–0 lead. The Martlets settled in as the game went on and flipped the script in the second. Owen Burke ’26 tied the game when he ripped a shot bar down, and just minutes later Gus McGarvey ’26 finished off a 2-on-1 to give Westminster a 2–1 lead heading into the final intermission.
Knowing the Pride would push hard in the third, the Martlets were ready. A fortuitous bounce off the stanchion led to Westminster’s third goal, with Ryan Holmes ’28 credited to make it 3–1. TP answered on the power play to cut the lead back to one, but the Martlets responded with a power-play goal of their own, as John Donohue ’26 made a strong play in front and banged home a rebound to restore the two-goal cushion.
Late in the third, Westminster found itself in some penalty trouble and was forced to kill a 5-on-3. The Martlets came up with a huge defensive stand, and after surviving the penalty kill, they weathered one final push from TP. Brenden Gilooly ’26 sealed the win in fitting fashion, blocking a shot, winning a foot race up ice, and burying the empty-net goal to make it 5–2.
In net, Ryan Galaski was outstanding, turning aside 35 of 37 shots to anchor the road win for the Black and Gold.
The Martlets will be back in action next Wednesday when they host Taft.
