Martlets Use Big 2nd Half to Defeat Rhinos
Another beautiful fall day set the stage as the Martlets took on their final regular-season Class A opponent, Taft. Despite controlling possession and creating a number of chances, Westminster couldn’t find the back of the net early. Taft capitalized on a free kick just outside the box to take a 1–0 lead heading into halftime.
The Martlets came out in the second half determined and resilient. With 17 minutes remaining, Hannah Coccaro ’27 struck from 25 yards out off a ball from Hayley Fineberg ’26, igniting the Black and Gold. The momentum only grew—ten minutes later, Coccaro came up big again, burying a rebound from a Fineberg corner to give Westminster the lead.
Not finished yet, Izzie Leone ’27 sealed the deal with an absolute banger from distance, another setup from Fineberg, cementing one of the grittiest and most inspired performances of the season.
The Martlets now turn their attention to Senior Day on Saturday, when they’ll honor six incredible seniors—Maya Goddard, Caroline Pokorny, Mia Fluckiger, Schuyler Groves, and Taryn Overstreet—as they take on Berkshire.
