Goddard Converts Penalty Late for Win

It was a beautiful fall day on Parents Weekend at Westminster School, the perfect backdrop for an exciting matchup between the Martlets and Williston.
The first half was a hard-fought battle, with both teams creating opportunities but neither able to convert. The Martlets maintained good possession and generated a fair number of chances, yet the scoreboard remained locked at 0–0 heading into halftime.
Westminster struck early in the second half. A brilliant through ball from Maya Goddard ’26 forced a deflection from the Williston keeper. The rebound fell perfectly for Mia Fluckiger ’26, who found the back of the net to give the Martlets a 1–0 advantage.
With less than four minutes to play, Williston capitalized on a Black and Gold miscommunication in the back to even the score at 1–1. But the Martlets refused to settle. In the closing moments, a Williston handball in the box awarded Westminster a penalty kick. Maya Goddard ’26 confidently stepped up and buried the PK with two minutes remaining, securing the 2–1 victory for the home side.
It was a gritty, resilient performance from both teams and a thrilling finish to cap off Parent’s Weekend.
