Coach Leone Gets First Westy Win

The Westminster Martlets traveled to Washington, CT to take on Frederick Gunn in a Class B matchup. Entering the game hungry for their first win of the season, the boys showed from the opening whistle that they were ready to battle — and they did it in style.
Galima Sonnah ’26 was the star of the day, not only netting the game-winner but finishing with an outstanding hat trick to seal the result. Luka Misko ’27 added a brilliant strike just before halftime to double the lead and send the Martlets into the break up 2–0.
On the defensive side, Captain Connor Gray ’26, Will Dowd ’28, Sam Herdeg ’27, and Charlie Hansell ’28 anchored the back line with discipline and composure, while goalkeepers Dennis Quiwon ’26 and Lochlain O’Donnell ’28 combined to secure the team’s first clean sheet of the season.
It was a total team effort, with every player contributing valuable minutes and playing their part in the victory. Westminster’s energy in the press, sharp passing through midfield, and composure in front of goal carried them through, while their organized defense limited Gunn’s opportunities throughout the match.
By the final whistle, the Martlets had claimed their first win of the campaign — a performance fueled by teamwork, resilience, and belief. This result not only puts Westminster in the win column but also sets a strong tone for the challenges ahead.
