The Martlets hosted cross town rival Walkers to Harrison Field on Friday evening. Despite facing a gritty Walkers defense and a talented Walkers goalie, Westminster was able to come out on top with a decisive 14-6 win. Westminster’s draw unit excelled winning 18 out of 24 draw controls.  Hadley Crowther ‘25 (5 DC), Liza Merrill ‘25 (6 DC), Margee Mahoney ‘24 (4 DC) and Alex Musser (3 DC) and Parker Perillo ‘26,  all worked hard together on the draw circle to consistently  win Martlet’s possession of the ball.  On the offensive end, Kate Epke ‘27 hit a career high 5 assists. Joining Epke in the assist column of the stat sheet is Crowther (2 A), Hopie Fooshee ‘27 (1A), and Merrill (2 A). Fooshe’s assist marked her first assist of her Westminster career, Fooshee also earned two ground balls and caused one turnover. Alex Musser ‘26 finished the afternoon with 5 goals. Other goal scorers included Hadley Crowther who netted an 8 meter goal, Caroline Callen ‘26, Merrill (2G), Caroline Pokorny (2G), Parker Perillo (2G), and Mahoney (1G). The Martlet’s defense made some strong plays. Lily Vincent ‘25 caused two turnovers and scooped up two ground balls. Eva Rodgers ‘25 also caused a turn over and earned a ground ball. Taleah Leonard ‘26 scooped up three ground balls.  Julia Matyas made 4 saves on the evening, marking a career high.  Both Matyas and E. Rodgers earned the teams “Hustle Chains” for their relentless energy and effort throughout the game. The Martlets will continue Founder’s League play against Choate on Wednesday.
