Busky Leads Martlets to Victory Against Choate

Mandy Busky '21 had three hits and four RBIs to lead Westminster to an exciting win over Choate at home. Callista Adorno '22 pitched a strong game and also drove in two runs with a double. Meg Cournoyer '19 and Gabby Nemarich '20 had two hits apiece for the Black and Gold. The Martlets trailed 1-0 in the second inning when Busky doubled to deep centerfield with the bases loaded, scoring three runs. After Choate's Kali Lawrence homered in the top of the third, Westminster put together a successful inning at the plate. Alayna Tawney '19 walked and Hailey Tullo '22 reached base on an error. Cournoyer, Abby Davis '20, Adorno and Busky followed with base hits to extend the lead to 9-2. Choate staged a rally in the fifth frame, scoring three runs. However, Adorno finished strong, keeping the Wild Boars scoreless over the last two innings. Fielding highlights included fine plays by Bethany Winters '20 at second base and Nemarich at shortstop. Cournoyer was impressive behind the plate.
