Choate Tops Westminster

Westminster hosted Choate May 8 on Hovey Field. The Martlets got on the board in the first 13 seconds thanks to an explosive Jenny Guider ‘20 winning the first draw of the game and stuffing it in the back of the net. Choate responded, however, with two of its own off fast breaks and goals well off the 8m. It was a back and forth game until half and the score was even 7-7 for intermission. Guider lit it up again within the first minute to put the Martlets on top, but the Wild Boars stayed in the game by capitalizing on the errors committed by the home team in the offensive end. Guider notched four goals, Ridgely Green ‘20 scored three, and Georgia Nolan ‘20 and Shannon Keefe ‘19 scored two each. Captain Blake Cote ‘19 snagged nine draw controls and added two helpers and captain Georgia Swank ‘19 had an assist and added three draw controls. The Choate goalie frustrated the Martlets’ attack, saving 14 of Westminster’s shots. The Martlets have a quick turn around and head to Greenwich to take on GA on Thursday, May 9.
