Martlets Sweep Home Opener

The Martlets opened the 2018-2019 season Dec. 1 with a 7-0 home victory against Salisbury. Every match was 3-0. The Salisbury No. 2 and No. 5 made strong bids to win games with the No. 2 having numerous game points in the third game against co-captain Khalil Walker '19. Walker finally prevailed in that game 17-15. The Salisbury No. 5 made a similar bid for a game against another co-captain, Nate Swift '19, before falling 11-13. Third Formers Sean Gregg at No. 3 and Alex Unruh at No. 1 earned their first W for the black and gold with solid performances. Unruh's opponent had very quick hands and was a pesky retriever, but Unruh was more pesky retrieving balls and controlled the match with better width and length. Gregg battled through a lot of lets, but also kept control. Sam Pagon '21 and Scott Lee '20 got wins, Lee's match being exhibition. Ethan Na '19, co-captain Nate Londal '19 and Unruh shared The Nail award for the best match results, each boy allowing only nine points in total.
