Martlets and Porter's Tie

JV Girls Lacrosse traveled to Miss Porter’s for their first away game. After Miss Porter’s took an early lead, Bella Zapata ‘27 scored Westminster’s opening goal of the game, bringing the score to 3-1 at the end of the first. Caroline Callen ‘26 added the second goal of the day, but the Martlets trailed 6-2 at halftime. The defense stepped it up in the second half, supporting the stellar effort of Mimi Salman ‘26 in goal. After re-grouping during halftime, the offense was clicking in the third, recording four goals with two more from Caroline Callen ‘26 and one each from Chloe Corneau ‘29 and Piper Lundin ‘26. However, there was more work to be done as Porter’s maintained a lead of 7-6 heading into the fourth. One more goal each from Chloe Corneau ‘29 and Piper Lundin ‘26 provided the first lead of the day at 8-7 midway through the fourth. Porter’s answered with two goals to reclaim the lead. With only two seconds left, Caroline Callen ‘26 scored her fourth goal of the game to even the score at 9-9. Overall, it was a great effort from the Martlets on a beautiful spring Saturday. Westy travels to Sacred Heart on Wednesday.
