Martlets Win Home Opener
The Martlets had a hot start to protect home court against a Founder’s League foe Trinity-Pawling. The game was up and down in the first half between the two teams. The Martlets took an early lead, which stemmed from G Brendan Williams '26. Brendan hit the first three shots of the game and he also played amazing defense. Wing Sonny Batchelor '27 had his best game to date, he finished with 26 points. At halftime, Westy was up 45-28. G Ethan Villacis '27 was sharp and steady throughout the game along with Garrett Rohrbaugh '27 who provided stellar defense. Ethan Griffin '26 had a monster double-double, he ended with 14 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 blocks. Trinity-Pawling went on a run late in the second half to cut the lead to 10 but the Martlets battled hard to keep them at bay. Everyone who dressed was able to get a little action. The Martlets ended up winning by 11 in the end. It was nice to see G Elliot Goldberg '28 chip in with 10 points and play solid defense during his shifts. Westy will hit the road and head to Deerfield for a Saturday afternoon game on Saturday.
