Martlets Fall to Eaglebrook

The Martlets made the familiar climb up I-91 on a chilly Friday afternoon, rolling into the hills of Deerfield to meet an Eaglebrook. The Eagles came out with a quick start as Black and Gold could not find the bottom of the net. Beckett Long ‘29 helped provide some interior defense and rebounding against an Eaglebrook team with size. Brody DiBeneditto ‘26 notched the first points for the Martlet season but Westminster trailed at the half. Credit to them, though: they didn’t fold. They came out of the locker room with some grit and took the third quarter behind steady trips to the line from Calvin Bixby ‘28. On the perimeter, Maruli Sianturi ‘28 and Kareum Skovron-Rasheed ‘29 turned up the heat, pestering Eaglebrook‘s ballhandlers and giving the visitors some much-needed edge. The momentum carried into the fourth, where Sonny Darnowski ‘28 logged his first JV points and the group played hard right to the final whistle. In the end, the hole was too deep. Eaglebrook closed out a 54-23 win, leaving Westminster looking ahead to its home debut on Wednesday against Trinity-Pawling.
