Martlets Fall to Millbrook

Westminster started their second day of the tournament with a match up against Millbrook. The game got off to a face pace, highlighted by defensive pressure on both ends. The Martlets handled the Millbrook press and found great scoring looks, including a beautiful inside-out opportunity for Charlie Evanko ’29. In the second quarter, Kaitlyn Buda ’27 led the Martlets in scoring with 6 points while Parker Perillo ’26 and Delia Lockwood ’26 held down the defensive end of the floor, limiting Millbrook to 23 points in the half. In the second half, the Martlets leaned on Perillo and Lockwood even more by implementing a new defensive scheme that worked to their advantage, trimming Millbrook’s lead to 2 in the third quarter. In the final frame, the Martlets kept it close but could not get their shots to go down and forced a few too many turnovers. A late and unexpected 3-point shot by the Mustangs in the closing minute put the game out of reach for the Martlets. Westminster will have a quick turnaround before they face Canterbury in their final game of the weekend.
