Martlets Fall to Hotchkiss

The JV Boys made a late season trip to Lakeville Connecticut to lose 1-0 to a high level Hotchkiss JV team. It was a scrappy game which devolved into a long ball exhibition. Will Gallagher ‘28 was once again imperious in goal, saving well from close range on several occasions. Will has emerged as a commanding presence in the box and has earned the trust of his teammates. The Hotchkiss goal came twenty minutes into the game after a driving run and a series of missed challenges. The attitude from the Westminster boys was always positive as they tried to play their way back into the match. Teddy Russell ’26 was unlucky not to find the inside of the post after another excellent individual run. Teddy then went on to set up Rush Miller ‘28 who made an outstanding run to meet the ball at the back post but was unlucky not to convert the chance. The boys adapted well to the circumstances but this was a game struggling for quality and good fortune on the ball. The boys kept pushing for a late equalizer, and besieged the Hotchkiss goal for the final ten minutes, but found themselves wanting for a touch more composure around the goal. This was a hard fought loss with a number of excellent individual performances.
