Martlets Fall to DA

The Martlets traveled to Massachusetts to face Deerfield in a highly competitive matchup. The first half showcased strong play from both sides, with Calvin Bixby ‘28 providing excellent support and movement off the ball, while Steven Lau’s ‘28 composure and control in the midfield helped the Martlets maintain dominance in key moments. On the defensive end, Brooks Berthiaume ‘27 stood out for his solid positioning and timely challenges, making it difficult for Deerfield to break through. Despite the intensity and energy on display, the first half ended scoreless.

In the second half, the battle intensified as Deerfield increased their pressure and managed to find the back of the net three times through quick transitions and relentless pressing. Still, the Martlets showed resilience, highlighted by Will Gallagher’s ‘27 standout performance in goal; most notably his penalty save that kept the team fighting. Up front, Luke Champoux ‘28 worked tirelessly to drive the attack and sustain the team’s momentum. Though the scoreline didn’t favor the Martlets, their effort and determination were evident throughout the match.

The Grit and Grace Award is presented to Luke Champoux ‘28 for his tremendous effort and vital contributions to the team, consistently uplifting the group’s energy and grounding them with confidence.
