El-Amin and Hassett lead Martlets over Walker's

Anna Hassett '27 and Melody El-Amin '27 each homered and Gabby de la Fe '26 had two hits on Senior Day to lead the Martlets. Natalie House '29 and Hassett combined to pitch the team to victory. For Westminster, it was the fifth win in the last six games. In the first inning. El-Amin put Westy on the board with a blast over the centerfield fence. Trailing 3-1, the Martlet bats came to life In the third frame, Lily Shuster '27 doubled, El-Amin tripled, and Hassett lined a two run homer over the fence in right field. The rally continued as de la Fe singled and Mya Polastry '27 tripled, giving Westy a 5-3 lead. Ethel Walker countered with two runs in the fourth to tie the game at 5-5. However, in the fifth inning, the Martlets reclaimed the lead when El-Amin tripled and de la Fe doubled. Hassett came to the mound and pitched three strong innings (striking out seven) to close out the game. Defensively, de la Fe, Shuster, and Polastry each made important catches at critical points in the game. Shuster's spectacular running catch in centerfield stifled a potential third inning rally by Walker's. The Martlets will next play at Worcester Academy on Wednesday.
