Martlets Fall to Marianapolis Prep

As the snow drifted down onto Williams Hill, the Martlets welcomed the Golden Knights of Marianapolis in a game that felt every bit as wintry as the conditions outside. Westminster opened with good energy, sparked by Cole Hadden ’26, who led the scoring effort with 10 points, highlighted by a signature banked three-pointer that brought a knowing smile from the bench. Defensively, Finn Cathey ’26, Connor Gray ’26, and Aidan O’Callaghan ’26 provided the kind of senior leadership coaches value, communicating, rotating, and setting a tone on that end of the floor. But Marianapolis’ size was a constant factor, particularly on the glass, where second-chance opportunities proved hard to come by for the Black and Gold. At the other end, shots came and went, and as the game wore on, turnovers began to mount, making it difficult for Westminster to make a sustained run or seriously dent the margin. With three games looming next week, the focus now shifts forward. The Martlets will look to regroup, sharpen their execution, and carry their competitiveness with them when they head on the road Wednesday to face Loomis Chaffee.
