Martlets Fall to GCDS

The Martlets welcomed Greenwich Country Day School to the Hill for their first game of the 2025-2026 season. Junior Captain, Kaitlyn Buda ‘27, helped the team get out of the gates in the opening quarter by scoring 7 points and battling hard on the blocks. However, GCDS built up an early lead by forcing several Martlet turnovers, pushing the ball in transition, and finding open looks for their strong shooters in their half-court offense. In the second quarter, Westminster picked up their defensive intensity, but struggled to secure rebounds and allowed the Tigers too many second chance opportunities as they continued to expand their lead. After some good looks at the basket, Chloe Donovan ‘29 scored her first points in a Martlet uniform by knocking in a free throw, followed by fellow freshman Charlotte Evanko ‘29 who cashed in a deep 3 ball towards the end of the half. Westminster continued to pick up their energy in the second half, including Delia Lockwood ‘26 who was on a mission down low, collecting 12 rebounds in the second half. The Martlets will look forward to some productive practices as they prepare for their next contest at Berkshire next Wednesday.
