Martlets Tie Porter's

Westminster 3rds girls’ played a tightly executed match on this Wednesday afternoon. The girls worked hard in the first half to keep the score 0-0, but with just a few minutes left in the half, a Porter’s striker found her way through the defense and posted a shot successfully into the net. At the half the entire team collectively decided to work on taking advantage of their own speed and control, which they had worked on in practice leading up to today’s game. Several minutes into the half Ilana Mezheritskiy ‘27 found a loose ball from the right side of the net and was able to tie the game. The final 10 minutes of the match were filled with drives from both teams, none of which were successful but provided incredible excitement. Shoutouts and redhots belong to so many players considering this was their best game of the season. However, the defence of Catherine Hogan ‘28, Claudia Cristina Gil ‘29, Ashley Martinez ‘27, Ellie Mallett ‘28, Lily McMillan ‘27 and keeper Elena Abud ‘28 truly held their positions and should be especially commended. Madison Nelson ‘28 played her best game as a midfielder and even had two shots on goal in the first half and Alisa Yoshino ‘28 was able to work the ball downfield very often in her new position as a forward. Despite losing captain Jenn Weber ‘26 early in the game to a severe injury, the team worked well together and played with grit and grace. Both coach Chrz. and Coach Palala were immensely proud of their efforts.
