Martlets Fall to Choate

The Martlets rematched against Choate on a sunny spring Wednesday afternoon. Despite getting off to a slow start as JV and Varsity finished their matches, we started hot out of the gates in our first and second doubles matches. Marcho Zheng ’27 and Alessio Suarez ’27 worked well together, reaching 5-1 on their Choate counterparts. A similar story played out with captain Colin Daly ’27 and Ethan McQueeney '27–the “dynamic duo” as they like to refer to themselves–in the second doubles as they also went up 5-1. But Choate battled back in both of those matches to take victory. Our final doubles match was also a barn burner as Gid Williams ’27 and Stratton Werner ’27 put in a strong performance, taking another early lead but dropping the match in the end. Our singles matches had less drama than our doubles matches, but Luke Champoux ’28, Enoch Olaosebikan ’27, and Zach Li ’27 put up good efforts against talented opponents. The Martlets take on Taft this coming Saturday at 3:30 pm.
