Martlets Fall to Lawrence

In the first game of the annual Harrington Tournament, Westminster got off to a tough start, going on the penalty kill less than a minute into the game. They were able to successfully kill it off, but Lawrence scored immediately after the penalty expired to take an early lead. Lawrence added a second goal later in the period, making it 2-0 at the intermission. Westminster had a tough start, but was looking to improve going into the next two periods. The second period showed improvement from Westminster, as they created more scoring chances and generated better offensive pressure, however, Lawrence struck again to extend their lead to 3-0. The highlight of the second period was the Martlet’s Power Play opportunity where the Martlets created several scoring opportunities, but the Lawrence goalie stood tall. Heading into the third period, Westminster looked to carry over their momentum and get on the scoreboard. They did a good job getting the puck to the net, but still were unable to capitalize, and the game ended in a 3-0 final in favor of Lawrence. The Martlets have a quick turnaround to their next game. They take on a strong Nobles team at 5:30pm today.

Our Grit & Grace player of the game was defenseman Kuylie Kim ‘29! Kuylie worked hard all game and was a steady presence on our back end today.
