Westminster Defeats Brunswick

Westminster Varsity Boys closed outs it’s regular schedule with a convincing 2-0 win over visiting Brunswick. The Martlets controlled the play early but Brunswick regrouped, making up for an even battle for much of the first half. Brunswick narrowly missed taking the lead on a shot that hit the cross bar, but Westminster opened the scoring when Peter Williams ’07 headed home on a Evan Carriere ’07 cross. Jimmy Turbide ’07 made it a two goal lead in the second half when he broke behind the Brunswick defense and, noticing that the keeper had come off his line, drilled a long shot over his head. It was a very strong team effort. Now we must wait and see if we will be selected for the New England tournament. Pairings will be posted at www.nepsacsports.com by Monday.
