Rallies Don't Go As Hoped

Today, the Martlets traveled to nearby Hall High School. At Hall's request, we played nearly all doubles matches, a change from the usual mix. We played a little off today, ultimately falling to Hill. Kimi Weng '24 and Harvey DeMovick '24 worked hard at our first doubles slot but played tense, with many rallies just not quite going their way. Tyson Mertz '27 and Khang Ngo '27 similarly played hard, but little things sometimes undermined them. But there were bright spots, to be sure. Zach Li '27 earned us our point for today, winning a decisive singles match, 8-1. Colin Daly '27 and Ethan McQueeney '27 took their match to a 7-7 tiebreaker. Although they lost the tiebreaker, they played very well together. Luke Hugabonne '27 also made his match debut today, showing noticeable improvement, especially in his serves. We played much better in the second-round exhibition matches, but sadly, it did not affect the overall outcome. After a solid stretch of away matches, we get a breather until we play Rumsey next Wednesday.
