Martlets Fall to AOF
Your Martlets made the short bus ride to Avon on Wednesday. Coach’s message was simple - 2nd half of the season, 0-0 record, intensity, compete, we executed against Choate, Taft, Hotchkiss - we have the ability, support one another. The game started slowly with Avon controlling the play offensively. Our defense played tough to keep Avon off the board however, costly turnovers in our clearing game led to Avon jumping out to a 4-1 lead at halftime. Your Martlets tried to find their groove in the 3rd Qtr, which has been our best quarter all season, however, we just couldn't seem to get jump started. Avon slowly added a few more goals before Drew Knight '24 would spark the team to life with a beautiful goal on the crease off a feed from Jackson Alpaugh '24 midway through Q4 to cut the deficit to 5 goals. Your Martlets would add 2 more goals but time would run out. Final score 9-5 Avon. Top performers include Reid Bulger '24, 2 goals, Owen O'Farrell '24, 2 assists, 3GBs. Defensively, Jackson Raymond '24 was outstanding in goal with a season best 15 saves, Drew Knight '24, 1 goal, 3GBs and 2 caused turnovers, Thomas Blouin '26, 2 caused turnovers and Jack Peterson '25 filled in at face-offs in the second half going 4-5 at the FO X. Millbrook next.
