Efficient Singles Matches

The Martlets boarded the bus for our fourth consecutive away. When arriving to Canterbury down in New Milford, the boys warmed up well and began to play. In a format of all 8 game pro sets, we began with doubles and a couple of singles matches. Daniel Frid ’27 and Connor Gray ‘26 got the scoring underway with quick and efficient singles matches, winning 8-0 and 8-2 at #3 and #6 singles respectively. Shortly after, the #3 doubles team of Caden Cramer ‘27 and Rohan Satpathy ‘27 won their match 8-3. #1 and #2 doubles took a bit longer to close out, but Steven Chun ‘25 and Jack Pickett ‘26 (#1) and Crosby Cutler ‘27 and Xavier Kahn ‘27(#2 doubles) both did eventually close out their matches to seal the doubles point for the Martlets. 3-0 up after the first round of matches. The final four singles matches went to the court. Steven Chun ‘25, Jack Pickett ‘26, and Xavier Kahn ‘27 all won in quick, efficient 8-0 wins at #1,2 and 5 respectively. Finally, Crosby Cutler ‘27 took a slightly longer route to his win, including fighting back from 1-4 down early. He quickly righted the ship and won 7 of the next 8 games to take the set 8-5. Although this was not the best any of the boys have ever played, they knew they were the better team today and did what needed to be done. A stop at Chipotle on the way home got the weekend off to a good start! The Martlets host Deerfield in a much needed home match on Wednesday.
