Martlets Double Up Granby

In an electrifying match of ultimate frisbee, Westminster delivered a dominant performance, securing a resounding 16-8 victory over Granby HS. Right from the opening pull, Westminster displayed remarkable teamwork, agility, and strategic play.After taking a 5-0 lead, the Martlets and Bears had a back and forth affair. Westminster scored the final 3 goals. Austin Black ‘24 got things started with a sweet toss to Quinn Pine ‘25. Alex Wood ‘25 then found Black who scored off a Pine tip. Wood then found Derrick Rhodes ‘25 with a beautiful crossing pass. Rhodes then hit Wood and Richard Kim ‘25 found Pine to make it 5-0 Westminster. After three scores by Granby, Rhodes found Anthony DiBartolomeo ’25 in the endzone. It was just another day at the office for DiBart as he would score two more times in the afternoon. Rhodes hit DiBartolomeo again for a 7-3 lead. The Bears would answer with two goals before Nathan Lee ‘24 hit Wood to give the Martlets an 8-5 lead at the break. Westminster scored quickly to start the second half. MacKenzie Silliman ‘26 hit Black and Dane Moliterno ‘24 hit DiBart to give the DiBartolomeo a hat trick and the Martlets a 10-5 lead. Kim hit Black, Wood hit Pine, Ganby scored, and the Martlets led 12-6. Wood then found Henry Warner ‘25 and Lee placed a no-look pass to Kim to give Westminster a 14-7 lead. After a Bear score, Rhodes hit Wood and Wood hit Pine to end the game.
