A Solid Victory
We traveled to Watertown and came away with a solid victory that saw contributions from a wide array of players. We jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first and added runs in the second, forth, fifth, and seventh innings. Teddy Russell ‘26 stymied the Rhino offense with three dominant no-hit, no-walk innings. The offense benefitted from several walks and Taft fielding errors, but we also got hits from each of the top seven players in the batting order, led by Brenden Giooly’s ‘26 two hits and Tim Donohue’s ‘27 double. Ethan Villacis ‘27 contributed in a variety of ways: flawless defense at first base, three stolen bases, and two innings of relief pitching to close the game. Russell played great defense on the mound and at short, Derek Waddell ‘27 had an RBI single and threw out a would-be base stealer, and Gillooly ended the game with a double play from centerfield. We have a rare, short turnaround and face a tough opponent in Loomis next Tuesday at our home opener.
