A Win Despite the Windy Day

Westminster needed 63 minutes to put away a feisty Pomfret team. Not only did the Martlets battle the Griffins, both teams had to face 40 mph wind gusts and sideways rain. In the end, the skill and athleticism of Westminster was too much for the Griffins. Alex Wood ‘25 got the scoring going with a great pass to Derek Rhodes ‘25. Nathan Lee ‘24 then found Wood to give Westminster a 2-0 lead. In the next possession, Wood found Sabrina Yang ‘26 for her first goal of the season. Dane Moliterno ‘24 then found Richard Kim ‘25. After a turnover by Pomfret, Rhodes found Quinn Pine ‘25 to give the Martlets a 5-0 lead. Lee hit Pine for a 6-0 lead. Then Moliterno and Wood took the game over. Moliterno passed to Wood and Rhodes passed to Wood and the Martlets took an 8-0 lead into the break. When play resumed, Moliterno hit Anthony DiBartolomeo ‘25 and then Moliterno hit Hannah Maltby ‘26. With the score 10–0 and the rain coming sideways, Westminster remained aggressive. Pomfret was able to sneak in two goals. Rhodes then hit Pine, Pine found Wood, Moliterno hit Pine, and Moliterno found Lee. Westminster was winning l4-2. On the final play of the game Rhodes hit DiBartolomeo and Westminster closed out Pomfret with a 15–2 victory.
