Martlets Fall in OT to Choate

Your Martlets traveled to Choate yesterday for a league match-up. What a game. Choate 7 - Westminster 6 in OT.  Your Martlets battled hard for 50 mins of play. While we came up short in OT, the coaches were proud of our young men for how well they competed and played against a very good Choate team. In fact, we scared Choate. They did not expect us. Your Martlets quickly found themselves down 2-0 before rallying and trading goals with Choate to go into halftime down 4-3. Q3 has been our best quarter this season, and your Martlets did not disappoint as they rallied to tie the game 5-5 before taking the lead in the 4th 6-5. Offensively, we continued to carry the momentum but could not find #7. We hit several pipes and did not capitalize on prime chances. Choate also challenged our defense but again and again we were up to the task, killing a 3 min non-releasable and 1 min non-releasable penalty. Unfortunately, a turnover on the offensive side led to the game tying goal with 3:42 left in the game. This one headed to OT. Despite a heroic effort by Drew Knight '24 to keep the play alive, Choate grabbed the first possession after a tough GB. They called a TO, and netted the game winner 15 seconds later. Not the result we wanted but this game proves we can play with any Founders League opponent. Back to work today. Top performers include Jake Andreski '25, Jackson Alpaugh '24 and Reid Bulger '24 each with 2 goals. Defensively, Drew Knight ’24 scooped 4 GBs, Thomas Blouin '26 caused 3 turnovers and Jackson Raymond ’24 made 10 saves. Taft next.
