Best Season Opener

On a beautiful spring day in Avon, JV Baseball had about the best season opener we could hope for. We got off to a 7-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning and never looked back.

Three pitchers – Ethan Villacis '27, Carter Styspeck '26, and Teddy Russell '26 – combined on a one-hit shutout.

Our defense, led by Dyland Ness's '26 two outstanding outfield catches and Derek Waddell's '27 two caught stealing from behind the plate, played nearly flawless defense.

Our offense benefitted from several walks and hit-by-pitches, but we also stung the ball a few times. Zac Jainchill '25 went 3-4 with two doubles, Villacis's 2-4 included a bases-clearing triple, and Brenden Gillooly '26 reached base safely four times.

We got off to a great start, but we still have a lot of work to do before out next content at Taft.
