Martlets Defeat Gunn

The Martlets hit the road for their second consecutive away game to take on a gritty Frederick Gunn team. The Martlets started the game off strong with good energy from the entire team.  Olivia Emerson notched the first goal of the game putting the Martlets up 1- 0. With just over 6 minutes left in the first quarter, Gunn answered, tying the Martlets 1-1.  Caroline Pokorny ‘26 scored the Martlet’s second goal off of a transition pass from Emerson. Emerson scored the third and final Marlet goal of the first quarter with just under four minutes to go. Charlotte Radin ‘25 made a beautiful 8 meter save in the final seconds of the first quarter to send the Martlets into the second quarter up 3-1. Hadley Crowther ‘25 opened the scoring in the second quarter by netting a beautiful goal off of an 8 meter. Frederick Gunn answered by netting  two consecutive goals of their own, closing the Martlet’s lead to 4-3 headed into halftime. The Martlets started the second half making key adjustments on the defensive end and held their opponents scoreless for the entire third quarter. Alex Musser’ 26, Nora Rodgers ‘24,Liv Emerson ‘24 and Liza Merrill ‘25, all netted goals in the third quarter to put the Martlets up 8-3 headed into the final quarter of the game.  Frederick Gunn scored the first goal of the fourth quarter and the Martlets responded by Alex Musser’ 26 scoring her second goal of the game off a feed from Nora Rodgers ‘24 who recorded her second assist of the evening. Gunnery held the Martlets scoreless for the final 9 minutes of the fourth quarter and scored two more goals of their own which lead to the final score of 9-6 with the Martlets on top. The Martlet defense played a strong game and Charlotte Radin ‘25 finished the day making 8 saves for a 57% save percentage. The Martlets look to host NMH on Wednesday for their first home game of the year.
