Boys Finish 4th

The Girls’ and Boys’ Swimming and Diving team had a fantastic showing at Founders’ League Championships on February 24th. The divers kicked off the meet on Wednesday with Cecily Belford ‘24 earning a ninth place finish in a score of 305.65 and Margee Mahoney ‘24 following closely behind her for a tenth place finish in a score of 283.75. 

The swimmers then took to the pool on Saturday where the team saw many personal best times and a few new Founders’ League Champions were crowned! The Girls’ side of the meet began with a strong sixth place finish in the medley relay (team of Ellie Pearman ‘25, Madison Khuu ‘24, Hayden Schneider 25, and Grace Tyler ‘24). Grace Tyler began the individual events with a strong twelfth place finish in the 200 Freestyle, swimming a best time of 2:08.47. Fundee Tongtip ‘24 followed this swim up with an impressive three second drop in the 200 I.M. with a seventeenth place finish (2:35.39). In the Girls’ 50 Freestyle, Madison Khuu secured herself a spot in the top ten with a best time finish of 26.72. Hayden Schneider battled hard in the 100 Fly to score a twelfth place finish in a season best time of 1:07.66. In the 500 Freestyle, Grace Tyler fought with determination to gain sixth place with a season best of 5:37.06 (a twelve-second drop). Ellie Pearman also secured a best time in this event, scoring fourteenth in a time of 6:11.91). The Girls’ 200 Freestyle relay (Madison Khuu, Hayden Schneider, Jennifer Weber ‘26, and Grace Tyler) matched their finish in the medley relay with another sixth place finish in a time of 1:47.69. Ellie Pearman followed up this swim with an eighth place finish in the 100 Backstroke (1:05.17) and Jennifer Weber was close behind her to score tenth place (1:06.56). Fundee Tongtip closed out the individual swims of the day with an impressive two-second drop in the 100 Breaststroke, swimming a time of 1:16.26 and securing seventh place. An impressive day of racing for all swimmers! 

The Boys’ began the meet with a terrific podium finish in the 200 Medley relay. This team composed of John Dwyer ‘26, Reggie Kanu ‘25, Owen Huang ‘24, and Will Larock ‘26 swam a personal best time by six seconds to gain third in this event. Will Larock started the individual events of the day off strong with a season best time in the 200 Freestyle, taking twelfth place in a time of 1:58.29. John Dwyer had a spectacular first individual swim of the day in the 200 I.M. swimming a time of 2:00.95 and claiming fourth in an incredibly tough event. Reggie Kanu followed Dwyer’s swim with one of the highlights of the day. Kanu swam an astounding 21.81 seconds in the 50 Freestyle and won the event by almost half-a-second (an impressive accomplishment in the sprinting events!). Congratulations to Reggie for his first ever Founders’ League championship title! In the 100 Backstroke, John Dwyer battled hard for a second place finish in a best time of 53.55 seconds. Reggie Kanu closed out the individual swims of the day in a fourth place swim in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:02.98. The Boys’ finished up the meet with a strong fifth place finish in the 400 Freestyle relay  (Dwyer, Huang, Larock, and Kanu). A fantastic day of racing for all boys! 

Overall, the Girls’ team finished sixth and the Boys’ team secured fifth place. Congratulations to all swimmers!
