Martlets Fall to Rumsey

With Parents Weekend commitments and a handful of players on IR, the Martlets assembled a small flock to make the journey to Rumsey Hall. From the tip, Rumsey jumped out to a quick lead, fueled by their aggressive defense and strong perimeter shooting. They continued to pour it on and built up a thirty point lead before the Martlets found their first basket, but despite the score differential, our team never gave up. Aidan O’Callaghan ‘26 and Liam Hibbard ‘27 helped our offense find good looks at the basket. Bennett Varao ‘27 and Khang Ngo ‘27 battled hard on the glass while Hunter Grace ‘27 and Rohan Satpathy ‘27 were all over the court looking to make plays. Jake Andreski ‘25 was an animal on both ends of the floor and scored a career high number of points. Henry Flaton ‘25 applied some outstanding defensive pressure on one of Rumsey’s best shooters - and Hudson Black ‘27 produced some highlight-reel blocks. Throughout the course of the game, we made steady progress and were able to limit Rumsey’s scoring while finding better shots in our transition offense. The team should be proud of their effort in competing against one of the best teams we have played this season. We will look forward to matching up with another thirds-level team on Wednesday when Salisbury comes to town.
