Martlets Defeat Pelicans

The Martlets were ready to play today. Led by our stingy defense and some strong shooting, we jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game. Throughout the first half, we were inspired — and surprised — by our range from the three point arc. Jake Andreski ’25, Arshaan Singh ’26, Connor Gray ’26 and Finn Hocking ’26 all cashed in from deep and Nick Ramsumair ’27 hit two. Even Khang Ngo ’27 got in on the action with a banked three! As we caught fire from the perimeter, we began losing some discipline on the defensive end of the floor and got into early foul trouble. Fortunately, our offense prevailed and we entered halftime with a 34-13 lead. Throughout the second half, the Martlets continued their physical style of play, but the pace of the game started slowing down due to frequent foul calls. We handled Loomis’s pressure defense and found some good looks out of our motion offense, but our shooting cooled a bit, leading to only scoring 8 points in the second half. Fortunately, our defense and rebounding stood strong and we were able to hold the lead to close out the game. It took a full team effort to secure the win today and the Martlets should be proud of their effort and tenacity. We look forward to returning to action tomorrow against Rumsey Hall!
