Martlets Defeat Pelicans

The Martlets made the short trek over to Island Dr. to face off against the Pelicans from Loomis on Wednesday afternoon. This was the second time these teams faced each other this season. Loomis won the first game back in January in overtime so the Martlets were excited to have another shot at them. The first period offered up some great end-to-end action with both teams playing hard and making plays. The Martlets opened the scoring in the first. Blake Burke '25 netted his first of the game and then moments later, shorthanded, it was Burke again who netted his second of the period. The Martlets came out firing to start the second period and had the Pelicans on their heels. Quinn Pine '25 fired a beauty of a shot to give the Black and Gold the 3-0 lead. After some solid offensive zone play later in the period the Martlets were rewarded again when Blake Burke netted his third of the day. Despite some penalties in the third, the Martlets battled through the adversity early to keep the Pelicans off the board. Loomis did score two quick ones later in the period but Tommy Coccaro iced the game with an empty net goal to give the team the 5-2 road win.
