Martlets Defeat Wild Boars

In their second game in the last three days, the Black and Gold hosted the Wild Boars from Choate for a Friday night tilt in Jackson Rink. The Martlets, coming off a good win on Wednesday over Hotchkiss, were excited to have another opportunity to compete against a Founders League opponent. Sophomore goalie, Jack Fichthorn '26, got the nod for the start and played a solid game stopping 21 of the 22 shots he faced. His teammates played hard in front of him for the majority of the game. The Martlets netted two goals in each of the first two periods of play. Quinn Pine '25 opened the scoring in the first, followed by George McCaffrey '25 to give the Black and Gold a 2-0 lead after the first 18 minutes of play. The Martlets maintained their high level of play in the second period. Tommy Coccaro '26 found the net twice to give Westminster the 4-0 lead. Choate, on a two-man advantage, scored their only goal of the day to cut the Martlet lead to 3. Despite some solid looks in the third period the Martlets were kept off the board but played well defensively to also keep Choate off the board. The team is back at it today at 3:30 PM for a mid-afternoon game with Pomfret.
