Martlets Defeat K-O

The Westminster Swimming/Diving team had a fantastic senior day meet against K.O. this Wednesday! To start, the Girls’ began the meet strong with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay (team composed of Jennifer Weber ‘26, Fundee Tongtip ‘24, and Hayden Schneider ‘25, and Grace Tyler ‘24). Grace Tyler followed up this win with an individual victory in the 200 Freestyle in a time of 2:09.27. Jennifer Weber claimed another win for the Martlers in the third individual event of the day in the 200 Yard I.M., swimming a time of 2:30.09. Following this event, the Martlets claimed first, second, and third in the 50 Freestyle. Madison Khuu won the heat in a time of 27.80, followed by Sunshine Li ‘26 (28.92) and Hayden Schneider in third (29.26). In the diving portion of the meet, Cecily Belford ‘24 claimed first with a score of 187.40 and Margee Mahoney ‘24 closely followed in a score of 174.565. 

Hayden Schneider began the second half of the meet with yet another victory for the Martlets in the 100 Yard Butterfly, swimming a time of 1:09.61. Sunshine Li followed this win with her own in the 100 Yard Freestyle (1:04.48). The 500 Freestyle saw three incredible swims from the Martlets. Grace Tyler won the event by over one-minute, swimming a phenomenal 5:48.69. Caroline Hebbeler ‘27 scored third in a 7:31.38 and Lily Raskind ‘25 completed her first ever 500 for Westminster in a time of 7:48.66. The Girls’ proceeded to win the 4x50 Freestyle relay (Weber, Schneider, Madison Khuu ‘24, and Tyler). Ellie Pearman ‘25 scored the final victory of the day in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:09.44). The Girls’ were determined and fought strong, ultimately winning the meet. A fantastic victory for our Senior Day! 

The Boys’ also began the meet with a victory in the 4x50 Medley Relay (team composed of John Dwywe ‘26, Reggie Kanu ‘25, Will Larock ‘26, and Owen Huang ‘25). Will Larock followed this event with a phenomenal second place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle, swimming a time of 2:01.21. John Dwyer also scored second in his individual event, swimming a time of 2:02.19 in the 200 Yard I.M.. Reggie Kanu remains undefeated in the 50 Freestyle, claiming victory in this event in a time of 22.58. Owen Huang closely followed Kanu in second place with a time of 23.56. In the 100 Butterfly, Samuel Hyde ‘25 dropped eight seconds to swim a personal best time of 1:05.39 to claim second place. Owen Huang followed his amazing swim in the 50 Freestyle with a victory in the 100 Freestyle (time of 52.41). In the 500 Freestyle, Will Larock claimed second place in a time of 5:30.86 and Matthew O’Connell ‘25 swam his first ever 500 Freestyle for the Martlets (7:06.96). Dwyer scored the final individual victory of the day in the 100 Backstroke (55.89). Finally, the Boy’s 4x100 Relay team scored second place with a time of 4:57.92. This team was composed of Matthew Gregorski ‘27, Nolan Styspeck ‘24, Matthew O’Connell ‘25, and Filip Tomic ‘25. 

A wonderful last home meet! And a special shout out to all of our seniors - Grace Tyler, Madison Khuu, Cecily Belford, Margee Mahoney, Nolan Styspeck, Owen Huang, and Fundee Tongtip. Thank you for all of your efforts throughout your time at Westminster! We will miss you!
